This month, the community of Berchidda gathered to reflect around this question. One key message clearly emerged: technology is essential, but it is not enough. For a REC to function effectively, you need technical and administrative expertise, clear governance, trust among local stakeholders, and tools capable of actively engaging citizens and businesses.
Through the experiences of the LocalRES and Masterpiece projects, concrete examples of how territories can be supported were shared, showing how EU-funded projects can become much more than financial opportunities: they can act as levers to strengthen administrative capacity, structure solid organisational models, and build a long-term vision. At R2M Solution, this is exactly where we focus our work: supporting municipalities throughout the entire journey, from strategic design to operational management. Berchidda once again confirms itself as a living laboratory for energy transition.
And it proves that even a municipality of 2,500 inhabitants can become a European reference point.
